I started volunteering with Saved by Fate because I wanted to foster. I wanted to be the safe place, the fresh start, and the support that a dog desperately needed and deserved. I wanted to show them that their past didn’t have to define their future.
Along the way, I’ve learned that it takes an entire community to make rescue happen. Every volunteer—whether you foster, transport, help at an event, take a photo, share a post, or simply say yes when help is needed—plays an important part in changing a life.
We may not be able to save every dog, but for the ones we can reach, we can give them something they may have never had before: a chance. A chance to feel safe. A chance to be loved. A chance to start over. And sometimes, that chance begins with one person simply being willing to help."

We always need volunteers to do daily visits to check the food, water, litter boxes, and well-being of our adoptable cats housed at Pet Supplies Plus in Palomar Centre (Lexington, KY). We also need volunteers for weekly deep cleaning, including changing litter and disinfecting litter boxes, washing food bowls, cleaning underneath/behind the crates and washing/replacing bedding.
1 hour per week
Helping out at events and fundraisers (this is usually a 2-4 hour event in the Lexington-area where we hope to help our adoptable dogs find new homes).
2-4 Hours
Consider hosting a bake sale, organize a raffle . . . the options are endless. Contact us so we can help you get the resources you need to create an amazing event.
Sometimes our dogs need to hitch a ride from shelter to foster home, foster home to vet appointment, or foster home to adoption event.
1-3 Hours
Sometimes we have adoptable dogs living in boarding facilities when a foster home isn't available. You can sign up to take that dog out for a few hours to give them a break from their boarding kennel.
2-3 hours
Helping out at events and fundraisers (this is usually a 2-4 hour event in the Lexington area).
30 - 60 minutes
You'd be assisting in introducing an adoptable dog to an approved adopter’s pet(s).
1-2 hours
By becoming an Adoptable Ambassador, you'd be working with an adoptable dog's foster family to get the dog seen by potential adopters via social media and public outings.
