Hershel is an easy-going pup that loves to spend his days soaking up the sun rays. He’s a pretty independent boy when it comes to humans, but loves having canine companions and a nice fluffy bed to curl up in. He’s very fascinated with the kitties in his foster home and will chase them in hopes they will play with him, but he does respect their boundaries when they correct him.
Hershel is already potty trained when kept on a consistent schedule! He always keeps his crate clean and is quiet overnight, he absolutely loves his sleep! While he’s been in his foster home he has learned to sit. We’re still working on his recall, he likes to follow the other doggos and goes wherever his nose leads him!
Hershel weighs 25 pounds at 5 months old and has an adorable short, squatty body type. Based on the photos we've seen, we believe that his mom was a 20-pound Rat Terrier mix and his dad a 50-pound Coonhound or Beagle mix. DNA results pending!
We're actively seeking a foster-to-adopt home with at least one playful dog for Hershel so that he doesn't have to wait until he completes his vet care to be with his forever family and his current foster family can help another dog! Foster-to-adopt homes must be in the Lexington, KY area and adopters must be able to transport to/from vet appointments in Lexington. We offer a discounted adoption fee for foster-to-adopt. If you're interested in adopting, please submit an application at savedbyfate.org and we'll be in touch ASAP!
A meet with any approved applicant's current pets and entire family will be required prior to starting the 2-week adoption trial or foster-to-adopt period.
